Doesn’t sound too optimistic about the Northallerton game either.
For a side with a lot of new signings who need to gel, this is not good at all.

Shame but alot of guys getting pinged on NHS app and most semi pro NE teams suffering same issue, young guys not doubled jabbed yet so have to isolate.
Re: Newton Aycliffe V Darlington
It says rising cases btw not rising need to self isolate.eddie-rowles wrote: ↑Thu Jul 15, 2021 12:24 pmShame but alot of guys getting pinged on NHS app and most semi pro NE teams suffering same issue, young guys not doubled jabbed yet so have to isolate.

Presumably this also has an effect on holding training sessions, or at least who can turn up.
Re: Newton Aycliffe V Darlington
and in longer run, the first day of the season is rapidly approaching. Boris loosening the rules about mask wearing and social distancing is not helping as North East Covid figures surging towards a new wave. AA must be tearing his hair out but I hope the National League Board are putting together some contingency plans so we can avoid the catastrophic decision over funding they made last January, otherwise we can all kiss goodbye to next season & perhaps even the club itself.
Sounds like all the lads need to take that NHS app off all their phones & AA needs to start our own home testing regime.
Re: Newton Aycliffe V Darlington
Our preseason in danger of descending into chaos after losing games against Newton Aycliffe Tadcaster and Northallerton. Presumably these games would have been used to assess some trialists ahead of the tougher games against Newcastle Sunderland Boro and Harrogate and also build up fitness levels. Too early for pessimism but it feels like we are already on the back foot before the season starts. The COVID nightmare continues despite what Boris says.

Re: Newton Aycliffe V Darlington
Are whole squads of these teams who are cancelling testing positive or just a handful, just seems to be one player tests positive who has nowt wrong with them and the whole squads isolating. Once it gets to a point where most players have had both vacines then surely just the players testing positive can sit it out, maybe cancel if its the bulk of the first team
I may not live in the north east anymore but i still support the north east teams

I was going to go to this game, so a bit gutted. With the steep rise in Covid 19 cases, it is bound to affect football teams preparations for the new season. Hopefully the game at Northallerton will get the go ahead.

Re: Newton Aycliffe V Darlington
Most of our players are low to mid twenties, so very few of them will be double jabbed. Joey Hope will barely have had his first jab.shildonlad wrote: ↑Thu Jul 15, 2021 6:43 pmAre whole squads of these teams who are cancelling testing positive or just a handful, just seems to be one player tests positive who has nowt wrong with them and the whole squads isolating. Well it explicitly says rising number of positive cases.shildonlad wrote: ↑Thu Jul 15, 2021 6:43 pmAre whole squads of these teams who are cancelling testing positive or just a handful, just seems to be one player tests positive who has nowt wrong with them and the whole squads isolating. Suggests it's more than one player.

Re: Newton Aycliffe V Darlington
I wonder if a team has ever started a season without playing a single pre-season game? We could be making history. Really tough on AA & his planning, how can you sign up players without at least seeing them in a semi competitive game?

Haven't we already played one?Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 6:20 amI wonder if a team has ever started a season without playing a single pre-season game? We could be making history. yes, lost 2-3 v Sheff Utd under 23's. Behind closed doors at their place.
Come on Darlo!
