Re: York City.
Absolutely nailed on when they got Askey in earlier in the week.Dont think many Yorkies will be sorry to see him go.
Re: York City.
Maybe Tommy Miller won't be far behind
Re: York City.
Askey comfirmed until the end of the season. Tommy Miller 2nd favourite for Hartlepool job
Re: York City.
I don't think even Raj Singh would be that insane. Miller's beginning to look like a rabbit in the headlights, especially since Spenny had to bring Ainsley back as Head of Football.
Re: York City.
York is becoming a bit of a graveyard for football managers and you have to wonder why. Perhaps McGill is the real problem there, as Watson is not the first manager who has been successful elsewhere ,to fail under him.
Re: York City.
Pretty shady appointing a new manager *before* sacking the old one
Re: York City.
The City fans definitely not united behind their owner. They might play in a nice new stadium but I would not want to be in their position.

Re: York City.
At the time I thought Watson was a good appointment. However, the York job seems cursed. Its amazing how a full time team cannot seem to make progress out of this league.

Re: York City.
I see that Cummins had been ostracised because of some kind of betting activity- this won’t have helped Watson.

Re: York City.
Alot of similarities between York and Chimplepool egotistical leaders who get involved in football matters they know nothing about, both do not own there grounds, large fan base but little or no positive fan involvement promoted and both Chairmen owed millions in loans ready to call them in at a moments notice. Believe York will be the first to implode but with Uncle Raj at the helm never far from crashing onto the Headland rocks.

Re: York City.
York were a well run club up until recently, now they don’t own their own stadium and have to rent.
Other clubs rent and it’s not a problem in itself but you can only sell the family silver once.

Re: York City.
I think they'll be OK in the long run, the safety cushion of a supportive city council and the guarantee and security of a ground to play on will ensure that. The ground is of a great size, has fantastic sporting and community facilities around it and will be completely viable.
York greater area has a population approaching 214,000, its a fairly wealthy area and once they go through the angst-ridden divorce with their current owner and he gets his money back, I'm sure someone else will come along and get involved.
It's a prestigious and secure stadium set-up for potential owners to get involved in. They have a 99-year lease and opportunities to generate income for the club there. Eventually they'll surely hit on the right manager and the right owner and move forward.
But there'll be ructions before McGill finally goes.

Re: York City.
I wouldn't say so. Up to 30 June 2020, they made a £700k loss and were £12.3 million in debt.theoriginalfatcat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 8:40 amYork were a well run club up until recently, now they don’t own their own stadium and have to rent.

I'm not sure the sale of Bootham Crescent will bring in that much. Crucially, BC isn't owned by the football club, rather Jason McGill.
Best case situation for them is McGill to re-coup £x million from the sale and write off the rest, enabling a fan ownership.
