Commentator has just said that Gateshead are full time with a budget of around £300K a year. How can that even be possible?

I'm going to assume this isn't true and the commentator doesn't know what he's talking about.

Adam Campbell - no change - could not finish his dinner. Always looks so good up until it comes to scoring.

Absolute tosh!

Also ITV taking Gateshead to be representative of the NLN overlooking the fact that most of the clubs are part time!

The commentary has been awful. Still not as awful as my decision to have a bet on Campbell to score tonight.

They also said that the club is fan-owned and then said the fans group owns 20% of the club.

With the amount of chances he has he should score double, it’s frustrating as you can see he has the ability

Be interesting for them to work out the salary of their players and management team on that sort of budget. Squad of 16 + management duo is 18 people on the payroll. Reckon they are all there full time on £16k a year...

Just as well their Boost the Budget for this season broke through the initial target of £5,000 and raised £7,177, "giving Mike and the lads the best possible chance of success this season".

Why set a target as low as £5k, just what is the point in that.

I think it's because most of their money comes from the local businessmen who have ploughed cash into the club. It was an incredible feat for them to stay as a full-time club after the previous disastrous ownership left them in the s***.

I don't think anyone is disputing that they are full time or doubting that.

I would challenge that you could run full time, with players good enough to be in the top 7 of this division, with a £300k budget.

Yes, it's obviously wrong. Either the TV people got it wrong or they were given the wrong figure by someone at the club.

In the year to May, 2020, they had 21 employees so it's probably a similar number now.

Credit to them, enjoyed watching the game, although that ground is still awful for football. Thought they played well last night and gave themselves chances to win the game. Plenty to be happy about if you're a Gateshead fan, going well in the league, good showing in the FA cup and a decent bit of crowd and TV money.

Got to say the £300k playing budget for a full time side did sound a bit of a stretch. Even with just a 16 man squad that's only £18,750 average per player. Imagine it's closer to £375k or £400k, still very modest compared to what the likes of Fylde and York will have at their disposal and they'll certainly making it work and getting the best out of players.

They aren't operating a full-time squad on £400K either, they have a squad of at least 20 players and they have coaching staff too. The commentator was simply way off the mark.

Looked like a decent crowd there but still hard to generate much atmosphere in an athletics stadium. Wonder how many will come to BM at Christmas ? The usual 50 or so I would guess.

I’d expect about 2/250 from Gateshead, sure they only took 240 or so to Spennymoor the other week.

At least you could see the game clearly, unlike the coverage of Buxton whixh was ruined by rain on the camera lens.
