Re: The Pride
Just posted something similar. Hope Miller holds on for a few more matches until we've played them.
Two men sent off, plus him as well today. Think that means Abbott and Magnay are out of the Boxing Day game against us, if they're getting three match bans.

Re: The Pride
Both sent off in the 69th minute. Were they fighting each other?
Re: The Pride
Not exactly sure what happened, but there was an incident regarding one of the Gloucester players allegedly biting an opponent, which led to a confrontation. If that is correct it’s not surprising the Spennymoor players reacted.
Gloucester were a pretty rum lot when we played them but that is something else.
Good job I am not a Spenny fan or I would be calling for Millers head on a platter !

From Moors TV: "Assistant Manager Stuart Parnaby gives an honest reflection of a damaging defeat and his view on the second half incident which led to four red cards."

If that's true about the chomp and teeth marks it's bordering on a police matter.

Re: The Pride
Yes, if there’s a witness or two and a bite mark then there could be trouble.
Incoming puns.

Not the Double Gloucester Spennymoor were looking to get their teeth into.theoriginalfatcat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 8:56 pmYes, if there’s a witness or two and a bite mark then there could be trouble.

Re: The Pride
And with that Miller and Parnaby leave...
Would anyone be surprised to see MG end up at Spennymoor? Or Steve Watson the most obvious / likely candidate?

"It’s clear to everyone that the current form of the team falls short of the performance levels required to meet our strategic goals."
They do come out with some utter horseshit.

Re: The Pride
In a terrible run of form. Uncle Brad obviously feels they are not capable of mounting a promotion push with Miller in charge and a change is needed. Good job DJ is more patient as they are still above us in the league.

Re: The Pride
The ideal job for Martin Gray - that's if he's still got the desire to manage.

Re: The Pride
Gray would be a risky appointment as he has been out of management for over 3 years. Having said that I bet he could extract some improvement from their players.theoriginalfatcat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 1:49 pm

Re: The Pride
Was always going to happen when he come back to the club.
Re: The Pride
I'm not really bothered what they do - but reappointing Ainsley as manager would be a pretty terrible move for them.QUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 4:49 pmHead of football so no surprise, but will be a temporary appointment I would think.theoriginalfatcat wrote:Ainsley back apparently

If they want a manager to actually move them forwards that is. He's a nice guy but genuinely think he hit his ceiling.

Re: The Pride
I would tend to agree with this, it would be somewhat similar to us bringing Gray back.
Fenceymoor are in a similar position to what we were back in 2017 when we finally hit the buffers after years of sustained success, we endured some barren times since then to say the least and we've changed managers twice in that time. Alun seemed to be getting it together here until we had successive seasons cut short due to the pandemic and in some ways we've wound the clock back two years in the summer and started the rebuilding process all over again!
Uncle Brad and his minions will have to be patient, the NLN is not like the Northern League or the glue leagues which can be monopolized if you have the clout there are some bigger full time clubs at this level with bigger budgets and bigger fanbases.
It will be interesting to see who takes over permanently there, personally I think Steve Watson would be the perfect fit.

Re: The Pride
I think Groves only has limited patience because the job advert for the full-time position says:
"Within five years, the club is targeting two promotions, which would make Spennymoor Town FC a member of the English Football League for the first time."
Looks like Ainsley is co-ordinating the application process and this is what they are looking for in the man who gets it:
Exceptional man management skills, capable of inspiring, directing and motivating a part-time squad of players
A track record of success at the highest level of semi-professional football in England
UEFA “A” or “B” coaching license required
A detailed knowledge of non-league football clubs and personnel
My email's whizzing along to the Tumbling Fence International Stadium as we speak although I might have to wing it with some of the demands especially after the stuff I've shouted at Ainsley (all in jest, of course)

Re: The Pride
I'm sure you'll do very well at the interview and I'll be happy to provide you with a glowing reference.
Re: The Pride
If successful, I'd be targeting a Steve Staunton-type approach (and results)

Re: The Pride
Why does the manager need to be pro, are spenny training during the day now, never used to. As for football league, not impossible but would surely the ground would need major work

Re: The Pride
I’d say most managers at this level are compensated for full time regardless of whether the team trains full time / during the day given the number of additional tasks required in the roleshildonlad wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 9:07 pmWhy does the manager need to be pro, are spenny training during the day now, never used to. I heard a while back that they couldnt get in the league with their current ground anyway due to poor access and lack of on site parkingshildonlad wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 9:07 pmWhy does the manager need to be pro, are spenny training during the day now, never used to. Never mind that they won’t get into the EFL simply because they are nowhere near good enough.loan_star wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 12:49 pmI heard a while back that they couldnt get in the league with their current ground anyway due to poor access and lack of on site parkingshildonlad wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 9:07 pmWhy does the manager need to be pro, are spenny training during the day now, never used to.
