Morley and Johnno
Morley and Johnno
Announced as spennymoors new management team. First league game in charge against Darlo!
Re: Morley and Johnno
Have to admit I didn’t see that coming. Didn’t think these guys suited Spennymoors ethos. Two good lads though.

Let battle commence
Re: Morley and Johnno
Bit surprised they are coming this far north as I thought Johnno had business interests in the Manchester area. That will add extra spice to the Boxing Day derby. Should be an entertaining addition to the local non league scene, but not sure they are the right fit for Spenny.

Re: Morley and Johnno
Not sure about this. Know the league, have had success in it but as darlo fans know do managers from out the area work at this level, doubt they will move all the way to county durham with there young familys. Yes gatesheads managers from stoke but he lived in the area when he joined them as a player/coach, his whole family doo
I may not live in the north east anymore but i still support the north east teams

Probably bring a car full of players from over the pennies with them
Re: Morley and Johnno
The Chester fans are saying they hope they take with them some of the dead wood they've been lumbered with following their summer recruitment.

Re: Morley and Johnno
I've always enjoyed the banter they bring to games. Although they admitted to me during some banter that they were fed up with keep coming back to Darlo for games. Looking forward to resuming the hostilities.

They obviously wanted to come to Spendymoor because of all the good vibes going down!

At the risk of dredging up a rather tired debate, Spenny is not a derby.Old Git wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 1:05 pmBit surprised they are coming this far north as I thought Johnno had business interests in the Manchester area. I am pleased they are back in but this one caught me by surprise. I am not sure what contracts they have signed, but most likely be for the rest of the season, I can't see them doing it long term.

Think it is as they are our closest geographical rivals in the NLN. So in the spirit of the pantomime season, Oh Yes It Is.Geordie Quaker wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 11:55 amAt the risk of dredging up a rather tired debate, Spenny is not a derby.Old Git wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 1:05 pmBit surprised they are coming this far north as I thought Johnno had business interests in the Manchester area. Re: Morley and Johnno
Most teams have a manager and an assistant, with the manager's pay and workload at a higher scale, but these two always come as a double act so must split the pay and workload equally. Meaning the total cost to the club will be similar. Quite a good idea, but what happens when they disagree?PierremontQuaker03 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 12:08 pmI am pleased they are back in but this one caught me by surprise. 14 miles, same county, and they even have a Darlington post code! I know we miss our monkey hanging friends but this is definitely a derby!Geordie Quaker wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 11:55 amAt the risk of dredging up a rather tired debate, Spenny is not a derby.Old Git wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 1:05 pmBit surprised they are coming this far north as I thought Johnno had business interests in the Manchester area. Re: Morley and Johnno
Suppose we could easily get into semantics over what makes a game a derby. I more see it as a rather one-sided rivalry to be honest, as to my mind there is not enough history for it to be anything more. I honestly do not care about this result more than any other.
The one thing that does irk me is that "Pride of County Durham" horseshit. Needy as fook.

Re: Morley and Johnno
Our derby was,is and always will be the monkey hangers. Spennymoors is, was Bishop but since we’ve been in the same league they seem to want to build it up as a massive kings of the county thing. Where we sill think of them as a small club that’s getting a load of money thrown at them to become something they will never be
Re: Morley and Johnno
I think it is developing into a kind of rivalry. It's not Hartlepool, but it's so local it's hard to think of it another way. A derby of sorts. Then again, arguably, so is Gateshead.
Re: Morley and Johnno
I'd call it more of an irritation than a rivalry. Like having a yappy dog live next door where you just wish it would f**k off and annoy some other poor sod.
