Farsley game
Farsley game
If weather forecasts are correct I think we will be lucky to get this game on.
Hopefully forecasts is wrong. And game gets go ahead. Looking forward to it

Re: Farsley game
Their pitch is like a cabbage patch at the best of times. I wouldn’t fancy playing on that if it’s a bit icy. Would be very dangerous.

Re: Farsley game
Snow showers likely today and tomorrow, followed by milder weather by Saturday with heavy rain. Looks like the pitch could end up either icy or very boggy by the time the match comes around.

I'm making the trip down sarf for this one, hopefully the rain won't ruin things. Hopefully we'll have a good following on Saturday.

Those of a certain age will remember the Alf Videsen episode when Neville gets home sick as they passed Darlington on the A1 heading south?EDJOHNS wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 4:41 pm"Down sarf" Bloody hell Pete it is Leeds not ruddy Southend.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 3:33 pmI'm making the trip down sarf for this one, hopefully the rain won't ruin things. Re: Farsley game
Since its been quiet this week on the Charman front and at the moment he is still our player, has there been any news on the appeal against his ban? Would be very handy to have him available for the Farsley game if it goes ahead.

Re: Farsley game
Darn sarf- what a great place for you to meet up! Ed, hope you can make it. Don't wait until Magic Weekend to put us out of our misery. Bga, it's wiedersehen.
Re: Farsley game
I thought bga was on about one of the lesser known Scandi noirs there for a moment.
Re: Farsley game/Charman
Charman appeal failed so 4 match ban.
Disgraceful decision from the national leagues appeals panel.

Re: Farsley game
With Charman out of the Farsley game I'd expect us to stick with playing some variation on 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. Still plenty of good players in the team below and capable of beating teams in this league but we really need the likes of Cassidy, Hatfield, Lambert and Rivers to step up with some goals and the back line to start delivering some clean sheets. I hope Armstrong resists the urge to Play O'Neill in the attacking midfielder role that he tried last time he was here, he's far better up top. Could be a good scrap between Cassidy and O'Neill who can make the CF spot their own in these next 4 games (yes I'm resigned to losing Charman during this transfer window).

Rivers ------- Hatfield ------- Lambert

Looking forward to this one since missing the Spenny home game.
Need a win, hopefully we can travel back with 3 points.

I think Alf Videsen was a Hodgy signing, wasn't he?

Agree, I think it’ll be Cassidy who’ll get the nod tomorrow.JE93 wrote:With Charman out of the Farsley game I'd expect us to stick with playing some variation on 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. In a game like this, physicality will be important and he offers that more than O’Neill. Perhaps in the games against less physical sides, it’ll be O’Neill once he’s built up some match fitness. From his pre-match interview, AA made it clear O’Neill will be playing up front in this spell and not in midfield like last time.
Frankly last season, I don’t think AA really knew his best combinations up front. He wanted Campbell and Charman on the pitch and tried to fit everything else around that, which is why O’Neill ended up playing deeper.
We will need the likes of Lambert and Rivers to really step up in Charman’s absence. Rivers in particular for me needs to show some more. He’s a hard worker but for me he needs to show more threat in and around the area.

Re: Farsley game
Totally agree that we need Cassidy Rivers Lambert and O’Neill to step up with some goals. I like both Rivers and Lambert but I find them both a bit frustrating. They can turn defenders inside out but often fail to produce a telling cross or a shot on target. Would like to see both of them be a bit more direct and get shots off quicker rather than taking on too many defenders.
Would expect Cassidy to start with Tyrone likely to be on the bench.

With the exception of Cassidy 20 games -4 goals I cannot see any of them stepping up or coming on changing the game in last 30 minutes, Rivers 21 games- 0 goals, De Santos 20 games (approx 50% sub)- 2 goals, Lambert 16 games (again 50% sub) - 2 goals, Mondal 15 games majority sub -1 goal, not exactly challenging Hatfield as second leading goalscorer. AA pinned his hopes on Nelson getting fit and banging in the goals, just like Macquire last season the risk hasn't worked out, we have a larger squad than Gateshead and for me a few more need moving on, especially Mondal.

Re: Farsley game
Keep it simple, just play O’Neill in Charman’s role, which is what I think AA will do, 442.
Taylor,
Griffiths Ellis Lawlor Smith,
Rivers Hatfield Wheatley Lambert,
Cassidy O’Neill.

Re: Farsley game
I would never have thought of Farsley as our bogey team (not least because I don't believe in bogey teams) but of all the teams we've played three or more times away, in league matches, since we were put in the Northern League our record against Farsley is the worst - played 4, lost 4 (2 in the Glue, 2 in NLN).
Re: Farsley game
It could be something to do with the pitch which is not necessarily conducive to flowing football. Having said that we really need to win this one if we are to push on towards the playoff positions in the second half of the season. I will go for Darlo to win 2-1.biccynana wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 7:28 pmI would never have thought of Farsley as our bogey team (not least because I don't believe in bogey teams) but of all the teams we've played three or more times away, in league matches, since we were put in the Northern League our record against Farsley is the worst - played 4, lost 4 (2 in the Glue, 2 in NLN).

Not yet, match preview said this is Lawlor and Rose's last game of their loan spells. Should they not be extended.AndyPark wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 7:17 amHas Lawlor had his loan extended? Re: Farsley game
Three things are pretty certain. I'll be a bog, it'll be a physical battle and the ball will spend a lot of time in the air.. It's no place for a lot of tippy-tappy stuff.
Re: Farsley game
1up Lambert. Seems a bit against the run of play but who cares.
Re: Farsley game
Make that 2 another one from Lambert.
Re: Farsley game
Lambert 1st half hatrick. I think we can call that stepping up in Charmans absence.

Hope we have Lambert tied up on a contract.
