Fans Forum Postponed
Due to be held this coming Wednesday 12th January has been postponed until Wednesday February 2nd due to matters going on behind the scenes which should become clearer by then. Could be a positive sign of a possible big announcement to be made perhaps regarding a possible new ground? Hope so.

Hope so, I’d heard rumblings about potential new ground North of the town let’s hope it’s not to far out.

Re: Fans Forum Postponed
I've heard Faverdale mentioned, bit of a mission from the town centre if so!

Have to admit that thought crossed my mind. Makes a change from the past where anything like that would have screamed "we're in financial turmoil"Old Git wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 1:25 pmDue to be held this coming Wednesday 12th January has been postponed until Wednesday February 2nd due to matters going on behind the scenes which should become clearer by then. Re: Fans Forum Postponed
You won’t get a new ground close to the town centre there simply isn’t a suitable plot of land big enough. Several acres would be needed for a new stadium plus car parking.
Re: Fans Forum Postponed
Tbf if you were close enough to the town centre parking shouldn't be that much of a concern.
Love to be proved wrong but it's the economics over the location which don't compute for me.
Re: Fans Forum Postponed
Definitely not faverdale.

Re: Fans Forum Postponed
Almost all new stadiums are built on the outskirts now. Land is just too expenisve in town centres and there isn't enough of it available. That's economics.
Re: Fans Forum Postponed
Old Rolling Mills West works site?
Re: Fans Forum Postponed
Maybe a deal done with the builders of the estate village on the 167 north of town that’s coming soon.Dead handy for me if it is.
Re: Fans Forum Postponed
Quite...irrespective of location the economics is the thing which I feel is the greater issue.Yarblockos wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 6:19 pmAlmost all new stadiums are built on the outskirts now. Land is just too expenisve in town centres and there isn't enough of it available. That's economics.

It’s gonna be closer to Blackwell than you think, those grants do come in handy

Re: Fans Forum Postponed
So it's going to be at Blackwell?

Re: Fans Forum Postponed
I believe that the council own a lot of the land around Blackwell Meadows.
Re: Fans Forum Postponed
Obvious place is the development at Bank Top. Already promises of £100M plus for upgrade and given the way HS2 / Crossrail and other HMG projects have gone, no-one will notice another £20M and a Monaco type ground built over the station

A lot of people seem to have "heard something" but never mentioned it before

You've got to remember until it's an official statement from the club .everyone is speculating on tit bits of information to come to their own conclusions. So it literally could be anywhere. We wait and see. What the good news is to be.

Re: Fans Forum Postponed
It might not be about it, but the very strong rumour of it being a new stadium and exactly where it will be keeps coming around with a number at the game speaking about it yesterday.
Location seems to have been selected, interesting times.

I'm just hoping it isn't on the wrong side of the Welsh border.

Re: Fans Forum Postponed
I'd heard Faverdale/West Park area mention but then there always seems to be rumours floating about so took it with a pinch of salt. BM seems to be looking more and more run down these days so hopefully that points to a plot of land being found and things moving in the right direction

Are we not bound to a 20 year lease at BM?

Re: Fans Forum Postponed
Is it possible that we purchase Blackwell for ourselves and become the bigger half of the current arrangement.

Everyone hold their horses! I'll share Chris Stockdale's tweet from earlier today:
"No one should be reading anything into forum date move and any land/ground announcement. Far more mundane reasons for date change."
Doesn't mean that good work isn't ongoing in the background, just that this date change has nothing to do with any land/ground announcements.

Re: Fans Forum Postponed
How on earth could we be paying for an entirely new ground? Magic beans? Seems an unrealistic expectation to me. Further development at Blackwell - or land next to it - seems more likely doesn’t it? A sports hub might meet the criteria for some kind of grant to develop on it. This is presumably what we would be relying on, grants or outside investment.
Re: Fans Forum Postponed
Surprised the Council have not tried sticking astro turf on Market Square - nice & central although beer opportunities now limited by closure of Hole in the Wall
