Junior Mondal
Has joined Marske on a two month loan deal. Leaves us a little light in wide positions, could indicate potential incoming?
Re: Junior Mondal
Not necessarily we still have Rivers, de Santos and Lambert who can operate as wide strikers. To be honest Mondal has been a huge disappointment and this move could signal his time at Darlington is coming to the end.CrazyDarlo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 12:16 pmHas joined Marske on a two month loan deal. Re: Junior Mondal
Hopefully he’ll get plenty of game time so improve his confidence, AA obviously saw something in him that’s why he signed him.
Re: Junior Mondal
O'Neill has also played from a wide position for us before from what I remember, and Charman has also been used coming in from wide - maybe this is an indication that his departure isn't as imminent as many think. Or maybe it is.Old Git wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 2:56 pmNot necessarily we still have Rivers, de Santos and Lambert who can operate as wide strikers. Scored a hat trick last night for Marske playing centre forward - I still think there could be a player in there hopefully

Re: Junior Mondal
The main reason for a loan to allow the player to get game time and improve match day stamina. Could be the level of opposition? he certainly looked bright against Newton Aycliffe few months back but has not been able to bring those performances onto NLN admittedly, mostly substitute but good luck to the guy.

Re: Junior Mondal
He needs to brought back now and go straight into the starting line up in his preferred position. He's not young in football terms so he either needs to play or just pay him up and release him. We had Beauchamp coming on with a few seconds left on Saturday, what is he mean't to do. As you can tell I a getting sick of this now.

I don't think we can recall him until 28 days of his loan have been completed
Re: Junior Mondal
I think you are correct.Lets hope his time at Marske has boosted his confidence. Agree we need to get him back and look to give him a chance playing off Cassidy/O’Neill and see what he can do. If he clicks and scores a few that would be brilliant, if not then will be released at the end of the season. I can understand why he might benefit from a spell out on loan, but bit surprised we agreed to 2 months, given Charman’s departure and Nelson’s continued injury situation.

If my dodgy maths are correct, he could be back on the 8th of February

Re: Junior Mondal
All well and good shouting for his return. From what I have seen so far (albeit spasmodic appearances) I would not expect too much from him. In my opinion he has not shown anything to make him warrant a starting place. I am sure that the management team know how he performs in training and will bring him back if necessary.. They are the ones best suited to judge if he should be playing or not.. And not someone who has seen in the press that he scored 3 goals in a match a couple of leagues below ourselves.

Re: Junior Mondal
To be fair Mondal hasn’t really been given much game time at all, it’s not surprising when Charman was firing on all cylinders. It can’t do a player’s confidence much good spending so much time on the bench, so hopefully his time at Maske will get his confidence and fitness back up, and he deserves his chance, and why not , we need to find someone who get us a goal or two.
Re: Junior Mondal
I’d like to see him given a run of games alongside Cassidy. If you look at the goals he’s scored while on loan , they all are from him getting in behind the opposing defence - something we don’t seem to have at the moment
Re: Junior Mondal
He hasn’t shown much so far but I think it’s worth a go. If it works it would justify the decision to sign him in the first place, if not what have we lost.
Re: Junior Mondal
Recalled from Marske after 28 days. Has scored 6 goals in 6 games for them. Hope he can carry that form on for us and prove his worth.

Hopefully he brings that confidence back to BM.
We could do with it. Welcome back Junior.

Re: Junior Mondal
He'll have to be a player reborn because he has offered nothing so far. Not sure he'll play as a striker. Given that he has scored 6 goals in 62 appearances before moving to Marske its never been his strong point.
Re: Junior Mondal
Indeed. Mind 48 of those appearances were in two seasons in the EFL, I still have hope that he has something about him (if not necessarily goals) and a spell two divisions below have brought back some confidence.

Re: Junior Mondal
Absolutely and given 90 mins and a run of games....I would like to see another striker to come in on loan to play along side him....the season is over, this squad isn't good enough, so we have to now just try a few different things until the season is over.

THE SEASON ISN’T OVER We’ve more than a third of games to play, 17 games left I think, but could be wrong.PierremontQuaker03 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 9:17 amAbsolutely and given 90 mins and a run of games....I would like to see another striker to come in on loan to play along side him....the season is over, this squad isn't good enough, so we have to now just try a few different things until the season is over.
If fans/players/management think it’s over it will be - but that’s incorrect and self defeating.

Re: Junior Mondal
Right decision and I totally agree, give him a proper run of games and let’s see what we have. The season isn’t going anywhere so let’s assess what we have now and what we want to do next year. There are plenty of the other lads who have had more of a run than Mondal ever has. Even if he has a couple of bad games, let’s just see. (It’s not stopped others staying in the team lately after all).

Re: Junior Mondal
Disagree that the "squad" is not good enough, at the moment certainly a good striker on a par with Charman would make a big difference plus possibly another forward.PierremontQuaker03 wrote:Absolutely and given 90 mins and a run of games....I would like to see another striker to come in on loan to play along side him....the season is over, this squad isn't good enough, so we have to now just try a few different things until the season is over.

Re: Junior Mondal
How can people think season is over when we are only 9 points off a playoff spot granted we are going through a bad patch but anything could happen if we get on a roll, seems unlikely at the moment but keep the faith.
Re: Junior Mondal
It we win our next two games we will suddenly be looking up again. Then we will lose and AA out will be back...darlo reborn wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 12:22 pmHow can people think season is over when we are only 9 points off a playoff spot granted we are going through a bad patch but anything could happen if we get on a roll, seems unlikely at the moment but keep the faith.
Try and enjoy the ride rather than worrying about the destination.
We all start again on 0 points in September regardless.
Re: Junior Mondal
Hope we will get some points before then, because the season usually starts in early August. Having said that we didn’t get any points in August this season.lo36789 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 12:38 pmIt we win our next two games we will suddenly be looking up again. Re: Junior Mondal
Right now, our current direction of travel is something to be worried about and I can't say I'm particularly enjoying the "ride" when we've lost 4 on the belt without scoring.lo36789 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 12:38 pmIt we win our next two games we will suddenly be looking up again. Funnily enough we are also only 9 points off bottom, so no the season is not over the first priority is to buck this losing trend and move away from the wrong end of the table, we are not a top seven side this season by any stretch of the imagination but surely to god we're not as bad as our recent form has suggested.
Never mind "keeping the faith" it's up to AA and the lads to give us something to have faith in, we really need to stop the rot on Saturday.
