There we go
That's an interesting one...and I know this is a bit boring but...

Does that effectively mandate that any prospective club who buys Charman from Rochdale must include a sell on clause?

Or if Rochdale sell with out do they end up with an indeterminate liability which will kick in if Charman is sold on again?

Looks like things have been sorted out very well for both club and player. I don't think anyone can have complaints about the way this has been handled.

Everything clearly explained. From why a lower release fee than possibly expected to why Charman extended his contract. I’m even possibly about complement Charman’s agent…

Jeez will definitely mean Rochdale will have to push for a sell-on clause if they ever did look to cash in.

Imagine (as an example) being hit with a £1million bill for a player you potentially sold for say £300k!

Great bit of business by the Club and the player. I'm not too worried about Rochdale's position! Hopefully we can find someone to replace some if not all of his goals?

There has been some astute work by AA and DJ in balancing the various interests. The naysayers clearly hit their keypads a little prematurely.

I thought these things works as:

Clause 1: a percentage of the sale from Rochdale to another club - this would be satisfied by a future sale to club B.
Clause 2: a percentage of any future profit that Rochdale make on any future sell on fees from club b onwards.

The same way Rochdale got a windfall when Liverpool bought Rickie Lambert from Southampton for about £5 million. A % of that fee was owed to Bristol Rovers because they had a sell on clause when Lambert was signed from them by Southampton. Rochdale got a % because the additional amount Bristol Rovers received caused additional profit to be realised of which a % was then owed to Rochdale.

I doubt any chairman would be signing up to a clause which allowed indefinite liability on a player who the club has no control over and wouldn't receive any cash themselves with which to settle the liability.

Yeh that's what I thought these things generally worked in terms of sell-ons of sell-ons.

In effect by us inserting it we have effectively made it mandatory that Charman is sold with a sell on clause included.

I got a perfect view of one of Luke’s final goals for us - v Fylde.

A skilful turn, then a beautifully placed shot in the far corner - it was a goal Gabbiadini himself would of been proud of and one of the best I’ve seen at Blackwell Meadows.

Do wonder if we go for someone to come in and plug the huge gap that we’ve got not Charman, do we look to the loan market from the big 3 northeast clubs, or maybe even Yorkshire way? Or do we go out and try and pinch someone?

Names that could be of interest could include:
Jacob Hazel
Adam Boyes
Dylan Stephenson
Callum Kavanagh
Adam Wilson
Kevin Hayes

Luke gets a hat trick for Rochdale Reserves in a 5-0 win over Bolton Reserves. Not a bad debut for the lad and should mean he will be pushing for a first team call up when his ban is up.

Good for him and good for us maybe in the medium to long-term. Do find it a bit strange that you can be banned from the first team but still play for the reserves! You are after all still playing professional football in presumably a recognised competition. Over to to lo!

The goals from Rochdale Res. V Bolton Res. are available to view on the Rochdale Website. Sorry I am not good enough with technology to post it on here. 3 goals and an assist a very impressive first impression for Dale supporters.

Jacob Hazel would be my shout, scored again for Whitby tonight. He is different to what we have and may fancy a step-up in division and an easier commute.

With around 16 months left on his contract, Whitby are in a strong position to keep hold of him, but I’d like to see us test that stance in the summer once we’ve freed up a bit of space in the budget.

Not really a reffing point...but this is the guidance.

https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-go ... essentials.

Weirdly at amateur level I know of players given the way the system works who are banned from all football until the team they picked up the red card have played X number of games.

Player picked up a red card last game of season for his Sunday team last year, violent conduct and was banned. He played in the North West Counties on a Saturday but his Sunday team folded so by FA rules he could never serve his suspension.

Speaking to him the other week after three months of the season the FA finally relented and wiped his suspension. He was banned from all football for effectively 6 months for a 3 match suspension.

Having only scored 30 goals in 26 games prior to tonight I think they could do with him on the pitch.

Scored 2 goals in the first half today for Rochdale at home to Bristol Rovers. Can’t recall him scoring since his transfer, so congratulations to him. Hope these are the first of many and he can bag us some more money in the future by scoring more goals and getting another move.

I went to watch him a couple of weeks ago, Stevenage v Rochdale.
Tbh he hardly got a kick up against a very experienced Stevenage central defender.
Glad to see he’s started scoring, I was beginning to think we may get him back!

2 year deal for Charman.
Seems fully recovered from his injury and with Hatfield earlier they have the money to pick our best players, wonder if we get a small percentage of his fee?

Baffled why he’s agreed to sign for that lot too soon to give up on his EFL career imo

It was reported at the time that we had a sell-on clause (a double sell on clause in fact), so hopefully. Might be worth a reaspectable amount if Fylde have paid a club-record fee for him
