Poolie fail to get to Wembley

Post by Darlo_Pete » Wed Mar 09, 2022 10:35 pm

Oh dear, they bottle it as Rotherham win 4-5 on penalties and go through to the EFL Trophy at Wembley. Poolie's very long wait for a Wembley goes on.

I watched this game. Hartlepool were excellent and tbh Rotherham had to employ dirty tactics to get through the first half. They could have easily been down to 9 men, Rotherham that is.

Well done Micheal Smith! What do you know, it turns out Mark Cooper knows better than a lot of our fanbase!
People hammered him on here (hello Quakerz 😄) when he was a kid for us. Credit to him for going on and having the career he’s had.

Yep, spot on Piggy. There’s been a few situations like this, young players getting grief then proving their doubters wrong. Well done Michael Smith.

Smith has turned into a proper player - bullied the Hartlepool defenders last night. Smith, Burn, Ferguson - we had a few decent young players emerge from the carnage of our last couple of seasons at the Arena.

I hear that there has been repeated break-ins at VP. They must be having trouble locating the trophy cabinet.

Now that's a depressing thought.

To be fair if I remember right it was more a case of him not being good enough at the time for our situation, which he wasn't really - but he did have potential and has done incredibly well to fulfill it.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

I do like to see them do well, then again i like to see all the north east teams do well. I often think how great it would be to see darlington, hartlepool, gateshead and york all playing in league 2

Yeah, league 2 really is missing a team with 600 fans playing in an athletics stadium to be fair

Shows how much you know. Crowds are up and have often been over 1k this season. Also im sure gateshead would get far more in league 2 what with increased home fans and some large away followings

I doubt it. More away fans yes, but the bar codes are on the up so any floating fans are going to toddle off to at James park instead.

Just seven times in 15 home league games.

Poolie never made it this season, but York have a chance still in FA Trophy. Hope this is a distraction for their play-off push.

Yes, good point. Chelsea V Newcastle at the weekend - YUK. I watched neither MOTD or MOTD2 and felt better for it.
