Just signed for an undisclosed fee from Whitby. Good goalscoring record and experienced so hopefully he can hit the ground running.

Really pleased with this signing, some on here will say and have said he doesn't fit in with our template in terms of sign young and sell on for profit, for me while that is great for the club, you still need some older heads in the team and he is a good experienced striker so welcome to the club Jacob!!

A very promising signing. I'll admit I doubted we were likely to be in for him given his profile but it looks like he'll be a good signing and perhaps shows there's some intent to build a core of players who might not just move on after a season or two to bigger and better things - we'll only progress if the likes of Charman, Donawa and Sousa aren't core to our results who we rely on above the rest of the team.

Presume his clearance may not go through in time for him to play tomorrow? But would be good if he could manage that one game for us.

Registrations for transfers are closed so he can't play tomorrow

Great to get a goalscorer sorted early and hopefully he can continue his record after stepping up to a higher level. Interesting that AA mentions in his interview about talks with Lowe. That would also be a key signing for me and go a long way in replacing Hatfield. Fingers crossed. The squad is coming together nicely and looks like lessons have been learned from the recruitment problems last year.

Noted thanks. Will settle for a Cassidy hat trick instead!

Happy we have managed to get this deal done. Something like 34 goals in all competitions for Whitby, so even half of that in the NLN would make him an excellent signing. I would think we have afforded him due to the unexpected windfall from selling Hatfield. If so,well done to the club for reinvesting the cash in strengthening the squad.

An exciting signing with the potential to be a really key player for us next season. The fact we’ve moved to get him signed up before the season is completed shows how important it was to get a finisher for the new campaign.

If AA is after about six new signings in total, that would suggest he’s got seven or eight of the current squad in mind to be offered new deals/take up options. His namechecking of Purver in the interview would indicate he’s likely to be offered something, and we know he’s after Rose and Lowe as well.

Purver is a good player, I would be pleased to see him sorted for next season.

When did Whitby put him on a contract was it around the time that we were due to lose Charman?

We may have found our penalty taker! Looks like a very positive signing who's not afraid of having a pop at goal from anywhere.

Really stoked with this signing, I thought we wouldn't get him and he would go to a bigger club. Things are looking really promising for next season. Hopefully BTB will give the club a further boost. Very positive news.

I thought the same thing Pete. Thought we might miss out to a club with deeper pockets, but perhaps we underestimated our appeal. After all there is no better club than ours 😀

I like the roll of the dice - goalscorers are not easy to find and he couldn't really do anymore - but let's not pretend this isn't a big gamble.

Why are we handing out 2 year contracts all of a sudden? So much can happen in that time.

Give a 1 year and
a) players may choose to go elsewhere fir more security
b) more likely to be able to get a transfer fee as if on a 1 year deal, clubs will wait to end of season to get player on a free.

There have been moans about only giving one years and now this

I would suspect it may be indicative of the fee paid, given Hazel's age I can't see that resale is top priority, presents better value for money over two years and you would hope there will be a third as an option.

Guess there is some chance of recovering some of the fee as well if it doesn't work out

Apparently Deliveroo do not do goals to order. Any player deserves a little stability in their employment even if it is part-time.

No issue with a 2-year deal for me.

As said above, he's unlikely to be someone we're hoping to develop and sell on. He's likely to be at his peak over the next couple of years but if he does have a phenomenal season and attract interest from bigger clubs then a 2 year deal gives us an element of protection for a player we've paid a fee for. Paying a fee and only offering a 1-year deal would be extremely risky.

Started for St Kitts and Nevis last night. Seems he played for 71 minutes before being substituted. They went on to win on penalties. Hopefully, this will give him a head start to pre -season training.

Played again last night in a win on penalties against French Guiana, which means they have qualified for the Group Stage of the Gold Cup. Final score was 1-1 before the penalty shootout, the St Kitts and Nevis goal coming from a shot by Hazel that the keeper saved and a teammate converted the rebound.
They will now go on to play USA, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago in the next few days. I hope Jacob can stay out there for the rest of the tournament, as it will be a brilliant experience for him, and certainly help towards his fitness when he returns to us. The goal is available on Twitter and can be accessed on our main website.

Had a good header in second half that came back off the post, even if he doesn't get beyond group stages (USA game 29th June sold out) going to need a good rest before season starts

Maybe he could persuade a team-mate to come back with him.
"Key player St. Kitts and Nevis

If St. Kitts and Nevis qualified for this round, it was thanks to the performance of goalkeeper Julani Archibaldc, who kept the game close and saved several penalties to be key to the qualification."

I fully expect he won't play much of pre-season as he will need a good rest.

Might be lucky to get him back in time for when the season starts.
