Mitch Rose also has an ABH conviction from as early as 2021 for assaulting a man & woman (fracturing the woman’s cheekbone).

I’m not convinced of the message which that would send if we signed him.
Is there a point in someone’s life where they are allowed to do the job they are good at without someone saying their past behavior, which they have paid a price for, doesn’t preclude them from such work?
Not having a dig, just asking the question.
I'd say that's entirely dependent on whether they're repentant for their behaviour.

No idea if Mitch Rose has publicly come out and apologised for his actions and accepted they were wrong or not. If he has, then I'd have no issue with us signing him. He can use his negative experiences to educate others.

Didn't we give a chance to Gary Twynham after he had spent some time locked up?
We did! Was in the days before social media really kicked in so people just accepted that people were allowed to make up for their mistakes and not have others constantly try and stop their rehabilitation.

Interesting that none of Blyth’s squad are currently singed up for next season. I’d be interested in Buddle & O’Donnell http://www.blythspartans.com/news-blyth ... ined-list/

Buddle wouldn’t come, he left Spenny because he couldn’t be arsed doing the travelling anymore; I think he lives near Amble way.

I’d take O’Donnell though

Two thoughts.

They either didn't sign contracts with options in them (most contracts are 1 years but with an option at our level and below).

Or they aren't willing to use the options they have as they want to renegotiate terms.

Interesting thoughts.

What benefit is there to a player ( as opposed to a club) to sign a contract giving club option to extend it for another year? If he signs a 1 year deal with no option, at end of deal, he can move with no restriction or if club want to retain him, renegotiate a new contract.

I don't see a benefit to the player. I do see huge benefit to the club in such a situation as they are only committing themselves to 1 year of payments, but put themselves in a position to retain player beyond that1 year by exercising option in their favour

I would think its the former rather than the latter, if a player signs a 1 year contract with an option the club can exercise that option on the current terms, if the club change those terms the player then has an option to renegotiate or look for another club.

Unless Blyth are cutting costs I would imagine their whole squad was on a 1 year deal, possibly the board covering their backs in case they were relegated this season

Higher player salary to mitigate the unknown prospect of year 2? If I was a footballer I would want a higher salary for the clubs option.

They get an offer in the first place.

Fylde retained list https://www.afcfylde.co.uk/2022-23-reta ... confirmed/ not sure if any of these have any North East roots.

Jordan Hulme is a consistent scorer at this level. I’d imagine he”ll get fixed up with a club in the Manchester area though.

Looks like Fylde have kept things classy - seems Hulme found out he wasn't being kept on from the published retained list.

Looking through their list can't see any that I think are from the north east originally - wouldn't surprise me if a full time Spennymoor went in for some of them.

It is rumoured that Fylde might have an issue with their manager  Can't really put much else.

Ryan Hall released at Spenny. Their fans are disappointed and think he left due to being played out of position. Could be worth a look? He’s a midfielder/winger.

Sure Calum attended the end of season awards dinner which may suggest he is staying.

Given it is now a month since Club said we were in contract discussions with Griffiths and Hope are we to assume they are not re-signing for us or did I miss any anouncement?

I would be disappointed if we couldn't sign Griffiths I thought he was good. Like everyone else no one knows whether Hope has potential at this level but guess AA does or Club would not have made that anouncement.

Good luck to him, but Spenny is a bit of a graveyard for players who join them from Darlo.

Good luck to him, decent enough player for the level we are at (I'd have liked to have kept him as back-up) - But as we seen last season, he just wasn't up to his own usual standards.
