Summer 2022
Re: Summer 2022
I think purver might be fourth choice centre back/full back. I'd still like to see us bring in another winger, ideally.

Re: Summer 2022
Budget permitting, I think we'll end up with a squad of 19. We'll sign another winger, and as Gramps says, midfield and defensive options would be the other two.
I guess there's always the option of bringing in someone from a bigger club on loan, AA has done this quite well in the past with the likes of Cooper, O'Neill etc.

Looks better than it has done for a couple of seasons so hoping we get off to a decent start, some tough away days in August.Darlogramps wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 8:23 amUpdating the squad following yesterday’s one-in, one-out for those who find it useful. Currently on 16 players so I reckon we’re just a couple of players away now. Another option at centre back and possibly one more in central midfield and we’ll be there.

May be better to get the hard away fixtures done in August when we should have the full squad fit & raring to go?
Re: Summer 2022
That is if you can define a 'hard away fixture'
Last season I would have thought Brackley was one of those but we won, Fylde away, again we won.
So called easy away games like Telford where we got thumped 5-0, and Southport when they were bottom beat us 3-0.
Easy or hard it all depends on the day.
Good news is we do have a competative squad from the first game. Top 7 finish for me this year.

It's a tough league but looking at the August fixtures there is no fear from me. We aren't playing any of the real favourites.MCFCDarlo3 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 5:04 pmLooks better than it has done for a couple of seasons so hoping we get off to a decent start, some tough away days in August.Darlogramps wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 8:23 amUpdating the squad following yesterday’s one-in, one-out for those who find it useful. I'd be looking for 3 or 4 wins and consider anything less as a failure.
AA teams traditionally start slowly, we really need to buck the trend this year and capitalise on a set of fixtures that could have been much tougher.

Good points made there, difficult to argue against.banktopp wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 11:21 amThat is if you can define a 'hard away fixture'

I remember everyone being shocked that we lost 3-0 at Southport but what we didn't know at the time was that Southport were primed for a really good run of form.
As for Telford, crikey, what a shocker.
