Extra funding . Thought

I don't know how others feel about setting up a team strengthening fund for the January transfer window, I would donate to allowing for a bit of movement if needed.just a thought.

I think it’s great idea, obviously it would depend on how the club viewed it. You would have to have some target in mind, say 30k although I have no idea what that would buy.
Also it would depend on where we were in the league, if were fighting for a top slot then it would probably do well, if we were midd table, that would be a harder sell.
You could argue we’ve done enough on BTB, but at the end of the day it’s the fans club so it’s really up to us if we would support such an initiative.

God why don't we have a fund the fund fund?

Both of you, no.

Club is in fan ownership that means funding from the fans .my thought obviously doesn't sit well with you .that's ok others may see it as a way to have a bit of backup money in the coffers should it be needed come January . Just my thoughts on this. It's not everyone's cup of tea.thats also fine.

I’d set up another BTB just to get Sousa 😂 (joke btw before I get called a troll etc.)

I think the fans have done their bit with Boost the Budget, to be fair. We continually exceed the target. It's up to the club to generate extra income - i accept there are limitations at Blackwell Meadows, but we have to be sustainable.

If we will be moving to a new yet-to-be-built stadium in a few years, there will be funding drives for that and we'll be asked to contribute (and I'm sure we will all be happy to do so). But there's a limit to ordinary folk's finances, and I don't think people can be expected to contribute to Boost the Budget, and then another Boost the Boosted Budget as well.

Any BTB for the January transfer window, would probably detract from what the main BTB would raise in the summer, I'm with Q.

I agree. If AA wants to improve the squad in January then he'll have to move on some of the players he thinks are not good enough before bringing in anymore. There is a real danger of "BTB fatigue" here.

In an ideal world we will be winning a lot of games by January and generating extra revenue by attracting more fans through the turnstiles. A good run in the FA Cup would also be a welcome bonus. Hopefully, our supporters have done enough to allow this to happen.

As good as the thought is, it's a no from me.

Times are hard, people are already struggling for basic essentials - I'd like to think the club wouldn't consider this. We've done our part with the BTB.

It was a thought that is all .had it had any backing I would have brought it to the attention of the club . It's hasn't so I won't.
End of the matter.no need for anyone getting uptight about it. As has been said a good start a good cup run will bring in extra if needed.

A breakdown of this season’s FA Cup prize money, for those who think it’ll give us a nice boost. If we make it all the way to Round One, we get just over £18k (not including matchday ticket sales which get split anyway).

Second round qualifying winners - £3,375
Second round qualifying losers - £1,125

Third round qualifying winners - £5,625
Third round qualifying losers - £1,875

Fourth round qualifying winners - £9,375
Fourth round qualifying losers - £3,125

First round proper winners - £36,000

For reference, in the season we played Walsall, 2019-20, we got double that.

So an FA Cup run will generate extra revenue, but it’s not quite the money spinner some think it is.

I think over a number of years we've done incredible fund raising and I remember when we were asked to help with the stand and the dugout covers we put our hands in our pockets as well as boosting the budget. Chester have done a similar thing this season and raised £86,000. I note that for ground improvement at the Brewery Field raised just over £530 in 56 days. We've raised £15,000 over the requested £120,000 so I think we've done our bit for now!! It's presumably allowed Alun some wiggle room so it's a definite no from me and we need to cut our cloth accordingly.

Agree, I dont think I could afford more at the moment like a lot of people. Well, I could but would end up single.

Cup run it is then!

Pretty much this. Spot on Sid.

We literally raised 50 grand more than Chester, a virtually identical sized club to us historically.

For a few seasons after becoming fan owned, it seemed as though we kept on getting mid season cash calls from the club. For one reason or another. The common denominator...we'd ran out of money. Maybe I'm remembering it worse than it was though?

Anyway, having a boost the, boost the, budget takes me back to those days, that's why it's a no from me.

But certainly, the actual annual Boost the Budget has really helped the club, since those days.

I get that people floating the idea of an extra boost are well intentioned, maybe they have a couple of extra quid to chuck at it. My suggestion would be hold onto that spare cash and add it to your next season BTB pledge instead. We don't know what's round the corner. Some people are living on a knife edge and may not be able to BTB next season, your money could cover their money and keep the whole thing hopefully chugging along at a reliable level. That's what the club needs, reliable income. Strength in numbers achieves this, we've proven it.

We the fans are quite literally, the club's rich benefactor. I remember Spen saying that we are the club's rich benefactor when there was a few envious comments flying around about Brad bankrolling Spenny. He might have been taking the mick with his comment, he might have been serious, who knows...but it turns out that he was probably right. We may not be able to put in between us as much as wealthy individuals at other clubs can, but as a collective we make a difference. The benefit of that is that the chances of the "rich benefactor" pulling all of their expected 120k per season out of the club in one go is virtually zero. This is what makes me proudest about this club. If we stick to our fan owned principles we will never again have the plug pulled on us.

No offence intended to onewayup or Darlopartisan - I just read back my original reply to you and it was over reactionary and sharp.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but since DJ and CS have been in their roles, things have been a lot more stable.

It definitely would, this type of idea gets banded about a lot in the Tin Shed Group, ultimately everyone who wanted to donate money has done so in the summer boost the budget. As other users have alluded to, we must create additional revenue streams, fan generosity alone is not going to be enough if we want to progress.

plus 45% gate money less expenses, home games will generate a healthy 50/50 prize. As our friends at Tesco keep telling us every little helps.

Suppose we could do a sweepstake to guess the site of the new stadium (but have to prevent DJ & all the DBC planners from entering?)

I'm a fan of the 50/50 draw. If you've got a bit spare you can get a few more tickets than normal knowing that 50% goes straight to the club. No pre thought or direct debits or anything, and of course there's always a chance of a tickle :)

Yep, me too. You can do the 50/50 online as well as buying the paper tickets from the great volunteers in the car park before the game.

Or just stick a couple of quid in the buckets at the turnstiles. 100% of which will go directly to the club.
