FAO : potential new players

Post by dfc1883 » Sun Aug 08, 2010 12:48 pm

Darlington Uncovered FC are looking to add to their squad this season as we are trying to push for more games this season.

If you are not familiar with who we are, we are an 11-a-side team representing Darlington FC in the IFA League (Internet Football Association League), in which supporters teams from all over the country play.

Our fixtures are played against the opposition fans of the team that Darlington play on the afternoon where the team has a fans team, this involves travelling down early to away fixtures but makes a great day out.

We also play an International World Cup style tournament every year in Leeds called WorldNET in which all players from supporters' teams from england and abroad play and stay over at Leeds University for the weekend.

We celebrate our 10th year as a team in January, so we have solid roots and are just looking for a few new players of a decent standard to carry this on.

In the past we've played at Feethams, The Arena twice, played against a team including Ray Houghton, played at York City's training ground against a team including their then manager Ray Houghton, so there are plenty of perks playing for us too.

What we're looking for in a player:
  • You need to be a Darlington fan
  • You need to be willing to travel with the team to away games (this isn't every game as not all teams have a fans team) - If you can drive we share the driving / cars and all chip in for petrol so driving to away games would be a bonus but isn't essential.
  • You need to be available for training on most Saturday mornings when we don't have a game
  • You need to be at least 18 years old. Our current squad ranges from 18-40 years old, so you don't necessarily need to be young.
  • You need to state your availability on this forum for any events posted, whether you can make it or not
The standard of football is comparable to Sunday League, as a lot of our players have played or currently play for Sunday League teams, so we're looking for players who have some Sunday League experience or higher.

If this sound like you and you're interested in playing for Darlington Uncovered FC, then post your interest in a reply to this thread letting us know your age and position and we'll let you know more from there.

Played in goal at Crewe last season and definitely up for giving it another crack this season.

I can play for Away games, but just away games!

I've played in 2 games, against Port Vale & Grimsby Town as a left winger.

Like Dan, I also made my debut at Crewe earlier this year where I played Left back, left mid and right back so I'm versatile for both sides ;) Would be up for a few more games

Guys I am available to play for UFC going forward I can play in goal or if you needed me to play outfield I can play centre back the pace has gone so could do an arnison at full back if really required keeper is my normal position these days.

Nothing to stop you coming along to training, we can see what you're like. You might be better than some of the older ones lol. We cant have too many young lads though cos most of the opposition are good teams & we would struggle more than we sometimes do already.

Anyone is welcome to train. We have 3 payers from the Boro area but I dont think any of them drive. One lad from Stockton does drive though.

I'd play but my best position is centre half and I'm only 5 ft 7, used to be a striker but lost the pace. Also away games would be a problem for me.

I wouldn't mind a game...play down the centre...ie Centre back, Centre Mid or Centre Forward....if you need players.

i'll play, i played a friendly against the uncovered team this year when i was playing for Mowden. I can play striker or on the right wing if you still want some lads to play?
