Re: Rugby League
How can Hull KR lose to previously winless Wakefield? Given Hull KR's recent excellent form, I'd say the result today must go down as one of the shocks of the season.
Re: Rugby League
We were not helped by some shall we say "strange" ref's decisions but we got what we deserved.
We were very flat while they were totally up for it. Explanation ???????
What is really strange is that for a few years now we get up and at the best teams and get results while teams we really should be beating turn us over.

Re: Rugby League
You need to be far more consistent, if you want to be serious challengers for a top 6 place. Consistency is the name of the game.

Re: Rugby League
Interesting to see that George Williams is returning from Australia with immediate effect, due to homesickness. I wouldn't be very surprised if he ended up back at his home town club Wigan, but the salary cap could be an issue, for whoever wants him.
Re: Rugby League
Looks like his time down under is ending an a bit of a sour note with him saying he asked for the end of the season and they have thrown him out while the say he refused to train and play.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 12:45 pmInteresting to see that George Williams is returning from Australia with immediate effect, due to homesickness. Whatever, someone will be getting a good player
Also good to see Bradford are moving back to Odsal. I still say the RFL should be doing it up and having the GF and cup final there. Money being poured down the drain paying Wembley and Manure when they own what could again be a really great stadium.

Re: Rugby League
Not sure what's going on at Castleford as they get hammered by Leeds 6-60. Massive game tomorrow at the top of the table, as Wigan play at Catalan & they'll hopefully void the fate St.Helens suffered last weekend.
Re: Rugby League
I was annoyed at that result. It beat our 56-16 there a few years ago. If this continues I would not be shocked if Powel "leaves" sooner rather than later.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 9:38 pmNot sure what's going on at Castleford as they get hammered by Leeds 6-60. Lets face it, the players know they have nothing to play for as they will now struggle to make a decent season of it, and he has no real power now. I have never been in favour of letting it out early that a manager is leaving.
More worrying for Cas fans, (I spoke to a few of my Cas loving friends last night and reminded them), a decent win for KR tomorrow v Leigh and we go above them in the league. I doubt Rob or most other Cas fans would have believed that for this stage pre season.
Re: Rugby League
Our golden point loss to Cats is not looking so bad after their last couple of results.

Re: Rugby League
Well that was just embarrassing, as we get hammered by Catalan & don't manage to score. I know we have plenty of high profile injuries, but that's no excuse as there were enough decent players on the pitch to make it competitive. I'm in shock as to what I have just witnessed.
Re: Rugby League
And today it is our turn up to bat.
With us 4/1 on favourites with Sky bet I am more than a little nervous after the weekends "odd" results !!! Especially when you add that there are 6 ex KR players in the Leigh squad. 5 of whom left in the last 18 months.
Leaving home at 9am and hope to be home by 9pm. Covid protocols mean extra work as I will be using my mobility scooter at the ground and as it is an older model it is both heavy and takes some setting up. I normally use a gate about 10 yards from my parking spot, but the protocols mean I have to go all the way to the other side of the ground to get in and no way can I walk that far.
Wigwam were embarrassing yesterday Pete, and yet again Hardacker shows he is nothing more than a spoiled brat and a bully. A long long ban would be his if I were on the punishment board, though I think Joel will probably be hit harder as they always side with you and Saints at disciplinary courts.

Re: Rugby League
Agreed Hardaker lost his head, but Joel Tomkins should be punished harder for throwing the punch. Sounds like it's going to be quite a challenge to get into the game, hope things run smoothly.
Re: Rugby League
Joel will probably get the harsher ban but to me that is wrong because had Hardacker not headbutted the other lad Joel would not have stepped in to defend his team mate.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 6:35 amAgreed Hardaker lost his head, but Joel Tomkins should be punished harder for throwing the punch. I think today went better than could be expected but I have just got back and not checked the forums yet to see how others felt.
The game? A win is a win and we are up to 6th.
Strange game as we mullered them, scored 3 tries but at half time only led because of the late3rd try. Jordan Abdull missed his first 3 conversions which is unheard of and we basically camped on their 20 yard line all of the first half with them breaking twice and going 80 yards each time, under the posts and kicks you could not miss.
In his defence, Jordan's were all out wide and the wrong side for a left footer. He eventually got that going and put the last 4 over. The guy must have the hardest kick in the UK game and his kicking from hand had them totally lost.
Second half, more of the first with no mistakes so they did not get any more points, which was good for us.
I felt sorry for Ryan Brierley. and wish we could have sorted him a deal at the end of last season. He is their 1 class player.
Think they are nailed on for relegation again.
Week off next week because of the cup then another trip to Hull for Salford a week Friday night.
Not sure how long I can keep doing these 400 mile round trips as I am totally shattered having got back home.

Re: Rugby League
Hardaker gets a 2 game ban & Tomkins could be banned for 3 to 5 games.
Re: Rugby League
Yea I saw that. I simply do not get how someone defending someone who has been attacked gets a worse punishment than the perpetrator.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Mon May 31, 2021 10:00 pmHardaker gets a 2 game ban & Tomkins could be banned for 3 to 5 games.

Re: Rugby League
Pete, I did not get the headbutt as I did not see him involved in anything before that to say it was coming, other than petulance at getting beaten. Do you think it is right if Joel gets a longer ban for retaliation then he does for starting it. I am not defending him because he is an ex KR player as he did the dirty on us when he left. I simply believe that if you act as Hardacker did you deserve all you get.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 9:55 pmThat's very OTT & I'vee seen far worse in the Superleague this season.comeondarlo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 1:26 pmCan’t stand either of them, ban them both for life!EDJOHNS wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 8:20 amYea I saw that. I'm pleased that commonsense has prevailed.
Re: Rugby League
Feel sorry for Griffin and hope his injury is not as bad as it looks.
That said, the boo-ing of Farge thereafter by the Dullers was pathetic.
If that had been the other way round they would have been laughing and as happy as hell if their player picked it up and gone over for a try.
Good game, and the best team won. So much for Dull "resting" most of the first team last week.

Congrats Rob, unfortunately didn't get to see the game due to work, but I was surprised to see the result given your recent form. Hope you enjoy Wembley & beat St.Helens.
Re: Rugby League
Were you there Rob? Good noise from a limited crowd.robsraiders wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 10:06 pmWow what a display from the Tigers tonight, out played the Wire and now on my way to Wembley on the 27th July win or lose it will be a great occasion CTID
Enjoyed the game but thought the final score once again gave a wrong impression. You deserved the win, but how often teams get picked off in the last few minutes of theses games when chasing the result.
Ruddy O'Brien does my head in. You don't see much of him during the game but yet again winds up with 15 points. Niggly little bar steward.
Enjoy Wembley. Probably the first I will miss that has a crowd in a lot of years. The RFL have not even emailed me about cup final tickets yet. That just ain't normal.
Re: Rugby League
Also a big game for both clubs as Wakey come to blows with Leigh today. Bet you are shouting for Chessy and his boys Rob.
