Players on trial
Just wondered if anyone knows who was at the 1st pre season training, only one I recognised was Ty O’Neill which would be quite delectable if we somehow got him in.
Also for a bit of fun I’m gonna guess that the following are on trial/in talks to sign (I am fully aware that 95% are most likely wrong):
David Wheater
Brendon Kiernan
Connor Oliver
Owen Gallagher
Andy Nelson
Owen Bailey
Hopefully Alun Works his magic and gets some good quality players in, looking forward to the season

Re: Players on trial
Would love a fit Nelson back with us, some forward line we would have

Re: Players on trial
I was told in no uncertain terms that I was wrong when I suggested Nelson was at training on another thread. Of course I may be wrong but my source is a reputable one. Mind l was told he was at training they did not say he took part in training which is slightly different. Another name mentioned was Wilson Kneeshaw.

Would like to see Nelson back, hopefully he can stay fit if he does come back. I heard he was there too.Old Git wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 7:46 pmI was told in no uncertain terms that I was wrong when I suggested Nelson was at training on another thread. Wilson Kneeshaw is a step below what we’re after. I’ve watched him play a few times and I’ve actually played against him... I do hope he proves me wrong if he signs though!

I suppose there's every chance O'Neill would train with us in between any trials he might get elsewhere.ReeceStyche’sManbun wrote:Just wondered if anyone knows who was at the 1st pre season training, only one I recognised was Ty O’Neill which would be quite delectable if we somehow got him in.

Nelson being out injured might work in our favour in so much as nobody else will take him on but he's a known quantity to us so we could give him a route back to fitness.

Re: Players on trial
Wilson kneeshaw is better than some are saying, I personally think he would be a good signing,
He had a serious injury and he has worked hard to get back to fitness, so it's a yes from me,
He can prove doubters,

Presumably you meant Cole Kiernan rather than Brendon who has just signed for Walsall?ReeceStyche’sManbun wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 11:19 amJust wondered if anyone knows who was at the 1st pre season training, only one I recognised was Ty O’Neill which would be quite delectable if we somehow got him in.

Anyone walking their dog near the training ground tonight, could do with a bit solid rumour speculation

Many players will no longer be contracted now so would expect plenty of transfer activity any time soon.Darlopartisan wrote:Anyone walking their dog near the training ground tonight, could do with a bit solid rumour speculation

Give it a few days. People will be mulling over offers, some trying to stay full time, some getting their agents to find the best deal etc. Loads of trials to happen as wellQUAKERMAN2 wrote:Many players will no longer be contracted now so would expect plenty of transfer activity any time soon.Darlopartisan wrote:Anyone walking their dog near the training ground tonight, could do with a bit solid rumour speculation

Re: Players on trial
He can't have played in over two years... maybe he's just doing a bit of training with us, but I can't ever imagine him playing at a decent level again. A shame for him, I thought he had some flashes of ability for sure. More likely to end up in the Northern League if anything at all.
Re: Players on trial
Nelson never played for AA though did he? I've just looked at his career since going to Scotland, where I thought he had a decent start. Surprised to see he's without a club. He looked to have real football league ability. Needs to play regularly.Spyman wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 8:24 amI suppose there's every chance O'Neill would train with us in between any trials he might get elsewhere.ReeceStyche’sManbun wrote:Just wondered if anyone knows who was at the 1st pre season training, only one I recognised was Ty O’Neill which would be quite delectable if we somehow got him in.

Had operation on his knee in January, out till Xmas, and therefore released by Torquay.H1987 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 10:59 amNelson never played for AA though did he? Re: Players on trial
From what I gather a deal for Wheater is getting closer.
Re: Players on trial
Apprently Danny Graham trained with the boys yesterday but his wages demands are 800 per game.

I take it Wilson Kneeshaw has been found, last I heard he did one and no one knew where he went

Re: Players on trial
Not sure how much players are paid at our level but I suppose if Danny was paid by the game and was scoring for fun we might get 80 extra fans on the gate. Maybe worth a punt then.

Re: Players on trial
Probably nonsense, but if not, well there's a club up the road who like to throw full time money at part time players if e wants to give them a call
Imagine if we did sign Wheater and Graham though
Re: Players on trial
Apparently Spenny did speak to Graham but thats as far as it went.Ghost_Of_1883 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 11:18 amProbably nonsense, but if not, well there's a club up the road who like to throw full time money at part time players if e wants to give them a call

As for Wheater, he replied to a tweet the other week asking if he fancied it at Hartlepool with a "yes"

Re: Players on trial
If we managed to get Wheater it would be a hell of a signing,
Danny Graham retired earlier this year didn’t he or am I making that up?
Also wonder if Lee Novak is a name being mentioned? From the area and as Alun has hinted the players he’s talking to are from league clubs

Re: Players on trial
With all this talk of former Boro players, I was reading Stewart Downing has just retired after leaving Blackburn! 37 years old and living in Wetherby. Doing his badges at the moment, perhaps a shout for helping at the academy?
Lee Novak would be an excellent signing too IMO. Although I would imagine he'll be staying in the full time game.

Re: Players on trial
O’Neill played for Scunthorpe tonight and scored.. sounds like McMahon recommended him.
