Expecting to see the same team as last Saturday if no injury problems and hopefully a good performance and similar result.

Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
That was a hard fought win a few weeks ago we would have lost that game easily so credit to all the lads for the win.
Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
Yes we worked hard for that win and are becoming much more competitive and hard to beat. Only negative is the injury to George Smith but lets hope it is not too bad. Hedley did ok when switching to left back and he could stay there if Griffiths is fit to return at right back next week. Good all round team effort and Taylor excellent between the sticks and deservedly Man of the Match.

Good team effort that, Taylor has a great game in the net.
We looked much weaker when Purver went to right back, was far to often they got down that side.
Charman and Cassidy once again
Anyone know what’s up with Nelson? Nowhere to be seen last 2 weeks…

Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
Glad to see the team turning in some good performances of late. Much improved since Cooper and recently Ellis have come in. Hopefully, we can continue this form for the majority of the season from now on.

You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"
Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
Smiths ankle didn’t look great when he hobbled onto the pitch at full time. Black and blue and swollen but I’m no expert. They two players involved were having a good chat about the incident.Old Git wrote:Yes we worked hard for that win and are becoming much more competitive and hard to beat. Ref was top notch in my opinion.
Should’ve gone after their number 3 more.

Waiting for Raj to shaft them!

Good result and sounds like a very good defensive performance. Well done to all. Good to see an attendance of 1509 as well.

Yep , ref let the game flow where possible
Most of the free kick were for offsides.
Good shift from all the lads , back 4 & keeper looking hard to play against

The Pride are claiming 1,554 today... mind they do include every season ticket holder as having attended (whether they do or not) including the many free season tickets they give away as well as any random who happens to be passing by within a 5 mile radius of the ground.
Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
Must admit wasn’t totally convinced by Taylor at first but was very good today. Long time since we have seen a keeper dominate like he did today.
Same with Cassidy, the guys work rate today was excellent too.
Hard fought win that we would have lost a few weeks ago.

England should play every week!

Good point it probably was a factor. Hope the likely resurgence of Newcastle Utd won’t lead to more young fans being lured up the A1 to Geordieland.

As with any club who is bought out by money bags owners, I'd urge the geordies to be careful what they wish for the grass isn't always greener.

You would never get a ticket now so there is not much chance any of our fans would change

Bad enough having Genial George doorstepping you, if this fella does it you end up dismembered.quaker4life wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 10:29 pmAs with any club who is bought out by money bags owners, I'd urge the geordies to be careful what they wish for the grass isn't always greener.

My thoughts too, Taylor pulled off some great saves today and Cassidy just kept on picking up the ball, beating defenders, laying it off, and generally giving the Hereford players a problem. Also Ellis - I noticed in the first half the Hereford forwards were trying to push him around a bit, but he wasn't having any of it!

Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
It is interesting looking back on our defeats earlier in the season. When we lost to Alfreton, Curzon and Bradford PA, the feeling was we’d lost to sides who’d be bottom half.
Yet both Curzon and Alfreton are top seven currently. Of course for the Curzon, Alfreton and Bradford PA losses it was more the the manner of the defeats that caused the concern (looking so shaky at the back).
But with the benefit of hindsight, Alfreton and Curzon’s strong starts does put a slightly different complexion on things.
Feels like we’re coming together nicely with a competitive team for this season, after such a worrying first few weeks. Good test for us next week at Chorley.

Have to agree with your comments regarding the start of the season. With the benefit of hindsight many of us including myself were perhaps overly pessimistic after losing the first 3 games. The recent signings have certainly helped and Covid was another factor but things are definitely moving forward now.Darlogramps wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 1:51 pmIt is interesting looking back on our defeats earlier in the season. Don’t want to fall into the trap of now being overly optimistic now that we have won our last 2 games because we need to keep improving and there will be bumps in the road ahead but great that we can start looking up the table instead of down.
Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
The injury to Geoge Smith is a blow because he has been improving each game and looking really effective. It didn't look good seeing him hobbling around on crutches.
Another issue after yesterday's game is the position with Brandon Taylor. He has played as a right back as well as in central defence and you would think if he was ever going to feature it would have been yesterday with the reshuffle at full back after Smith's injury.
But instead Purver was brought on in the emergency. I'm not saying that was the wrong call but it does appear highly unlikely that Taylor will come off the bench if he's not going to get the call in these circumstances. I get the feeling Purver would also have been selected from the bench had the injury involved Ellis or Storey. Is Taylor therefore a sub who is unlikely to ever be used? If that is the case surely he would be better off getting some experience out on loan.

Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
There's also the chance of Ellis missing this week as well as he took a knock. If we have reserve players then we need to use them. Either they're good enough or they're not. Worst case scenario this Saturday with potentially Griffiths still out, would rather we recalled Hope and played him at left back with Hedley right back and Storey and Taylor in the middle.
Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
I think Hope joined Guisborough on an initial one month loan on Sept 25 so he's probably out of the equation.
Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
Wonder if there is an emergency clause in the loan deal? I remember Boro recalled Tyrone O'Neill on an emergency, but unsure if that can only be done if it's longer than a month. Someone on here will know.

Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
Got injured in either his first or second game and hasn't got back playing yet it seems. Sadly his team are bottom of the league currently also. Hopefully it turns around for him and Scunthorpe soon.Darlopartisan wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 6:23 pmAs a side question, how is Tyrone getting on these days? Anyone
Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021
Definitely a problem for us as Darlo is full of mags. Always found it strange as it’s nearly 40 miles away but maybe something to do with the short train journey and the ‘entertainaz’ from the 90’s.
Was reading a post on the tinshed Facebook page and was shocked at the number of our fans who followed Darlo as well as Newcastle or Man Utd etc, naive of me I suppose but to a lot of our younger fans they’ve always known us as a non league team.
I think what I’m trying to say during this waffle is I’m quite worried about our future attendances if Newcastle end up winning trophies.
