Good news if true but Wheater is 35 next month and not played for about a year so I won’t be waiting with bated breath.

Wheater did say after he had had the operation. That he would re evaluate in January as to how he feels about playing again. He must believe that he can do a job now his injuries are over.good on David wheater.we shall see if he's upto playing.

There's a lot of sentiment here I think because he had a spell with us before and is north east based.

Being objective, is he going to be any better than Nicky Hunt? Hunt was a better player at his peak, and Wheater has had injury problems for years whereas Hunt managed a relatively injury free career into his 30s.

He might add something to the current squad in terms of experience, but I wouldn't expect him to transform our defence.

I think the answer is we don't know. Don't know if all over 34s are the same - they were slightly different style of players.

I think this is a personal opinion (which is fair enough) but didn't Wheater get himself into the senior England squad - not sure if Hunt did?

Love to see him back in a Darlo shirt, obviously he needs to be fit, loads of experience, at our level.

If we can't keep a couple of the loanees we have had them getting Wheater back in could be shrewd if he can prove his fitness. There is no doubting his experience but time out of the game may have taken its toll. IF he can prove his fitness then it's not like we've had an experienced or veteran back line before when we had Foster and White at the heart of our defence in League 2.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

Id like to see Wheater at least trialed in a Darlo shift even if on a short term pay as you play deal, I think he is a bit different to Hunt who had spent most of his career as a wing back/right back, Wheater would head a fridge and providing he can get his fitness up would be a very good asset in our league.

No doubt Wheater would stiffen up our sometimes fragile defence and might stop us conceding so many goals from crosses, but would still need to be reasonably mobile. Hope he can prove his fitness but at 35 and having not played for so long it has to be a doubt. Having said that a fit and motivated David Wheater could be a real asset.

We could really do with an update on what's happening with Lawlor and Cooper (and Rose) now their loans have finished or have I missed something?

Agreed, that's definitely not accurate. Wheater made the England squad and was a regular in the top flight for Boro and Bolton. Hunt was a regular for a handful of years playing at right back. He only became a centre back later in his career. Wheater is also a few years younger than Hunt.

I wouldn't discount Wheater still having something to offer.

I'd be surprised if that had an impact, they want him off the wage bill and that's what we are able to offer.

I would assume no offer or acceptable offer to get to the point of having a conversation.

You're forgetting how Raj conducts himself when annoyed/angry.

Well…if he ends blocking us signing players in a pique of irrational temper, then I do care.

(Not saying that’s the case with Lawlor, just speaking generally).

It’d be a huge shame if we can’t keep Lawlor , he’s getting better and better each game. If I had to choose between Lawlor or Cooper I’d take Lawlor every time

Lawlor had a good game at Farsley, although to be fair he didn't have much to do, after we opened the scoring.

So basically… from echo article.

- We want Rose, whether that will be coming back either permanently or end of season loan.
- Hartlepool being awkward and won’t extend Lawlors deal.
- Talks ongoing with Cooper, but doesn’t seem likely.

League 2 club met Charmans release and he turned them down.

Shame about Lawlor but he's a Hartlepool player and obviously they are entitled to do whatever they think fit. I'm sure Lawlor himself just wants to play football regularly and maybe a move elsewhere is being sorted out. Having the right loanees can really boost a side but this is the obvious danger that comes with it.

Keeping Rose would be great as he's been consistently good since getting his chance.

Sounds like there's a real scramble for Charman and he'll be off soon.

Quakers are short of cover in defence, especially now Lawlor returning. Our youngsters are out on loan & not yet ready for physicality in NLN. Hedley is a utility player but not up to centreback. Rose is also a big miss & leaves us stretchex in midfield. Hopefully AA has some cards up his sleeve & the future of Charman is another reason to postpone the fans forum.

Hopefully AA has players lined up for defensive roles on Saturday as we are very short on cover in this area, I like to think we have a chance to compete against a top 4 team looking forward to how we setup against kidderminster.. hopefully it's a good day for all.
