Player update - Rose, Charman et al

Wide ranging article by Mr Stoddart.
Gives update on situation on loanees and interesting bit about Charman - it seems he has a release clause in his contract and a club (bradford city?) met it, but he turned them down.

Re: Player update - Rose, Charman et al
Yes it means that with a release clause in his contract any transfer fee may not be that high. That being the case it is all about the add ons we can negotiate with potential buyers. The fact that he turned down a League 2 side suggests to me that he and his agent know other clubs are interested and presumably expect he can get better terms elsewhere.
Re: Player update - Rose, Charman et al
If a release clause is met I don't know that we can then negotiate further add ons?

Kieran Maguire was on about this in a recent episode of his Price of Football Podcast and was basically saying once release clause is met, a club has to let player speak/ go and cannot insist on more terms eg sell on fees etc. It doesn't stop selling club asking for them though
Re: Player update - Rose, Charman et al
I mean it depends.
The clause could be anything. Could just be if an EFL club approach we must let Charman speak with them, there is no actual obligation to sell at a particular price.
Sure I've heard it before where they fee / transfer negotiation happens secondary. In fact when Ronaldo joined United this summer I am sure they said the clubs hadn't agreed terms at that point.

As Bradford bid £41K , I’d say it’s safe to assume there is a £40K buy out . He’s only recently signed upto this contract so I’m comfortable that all the extras will be in there as well .
Re: Player update - Rose, Charman et al
Surely they'd have done an Arsenal.
£40k and £1

Squad is looking rather thin if we don’t make any progress with anyone.
Taylor; Griffiths, Ellis, Storey, Smith; Purver, Hatfield, Wheatley; Rivers, Cassidy, Lambert.
Hedley, Dos Santos, O’Neill plus a couple of youngsters.

I was thinking this , strange time for Mondal to go out on loan if we cant fill the bench without youngstersDarlogramps wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 4:43 pmSquad is looking rather thin if we don’t make any progress with anyone.

Jake Lawlor now released by Hartlepool.
Re: Player update - Rose, Charman et al
Guess it will all depend on whether he wants to stay Full time or not, but I hope we're in for him. Wouldn't surprise me if a team up the road would also be interested. Definitely be a big boost to the squad for the 2nd half of the season if we can get it done.
Could be one positive from losing Charman if it means we could use the confirmed income to get a decent spine of the team signed up for next season early. Taylor, Lawlor, Hatfield would be a good start rather than having to wait till after BTB has finished to sort contract renewals.
Re: Player update - Rose, Charman et al
I think we will get him to be honest.
Re: Player update - Rose, Charman et al
He's already got his options sorted, that's for sure

Wouldn’t be shocked if he ended up at Spennymoor collecting plenty of vibes.
