What a day of emotions, elated in the first half, and looked ok in second half until Wheater went off. Gateshead were a good team, fast and organised, there fullback beat KDS in a race for the ball! We matched them and looked the more dangerous team.
After Wheater went off team went to rats, no leaders on the pitch, and easy goals for them.

I have to say Nathan Lowe looks a really good signing, midfield for next year looks very capable with Rose, Moke, Purver and Lowe, with possible back up from Headley.

Mondel was disappointing today, he looked frustrated and a bit lacking in enthusiasm, (body language was not good when we needed all players to fight for the team), the game seemed to pass him by, watching rather than chasing down, at one point Lambert running from the left wing right across to the right to chase players down while Mondel was closer but just stood and watched.

Re centre half's, Beeden is getting good reviews at Billingham, (and yes I know it is lower leagues), with comments that he is far better than there level, with rumours that Notts County are looking at him. Hope AA is keeping an eye on how our players on loan are doing as most are still very young.

Another example of full-timers having more energy left in last 20 minutes. Promised so much in 1st half with great performance, then lost our mojo when Wheater had to leave.

Part time teams can get promoted look at Sutton United but they have to be fit enough able to play for 90 minutes, surely this long into the season KDS can play atleast a full game?. During warm up Gateshead practiced pinging in crosses as we played on touch into feet little circles that was the two styles .
First half into feet worked for us but even then Gateshead had several overloads in our box by passing our midfield but lacked the final ball or were off target.
Second half we stopped playing into feet and reverted back to hoof football lost count number of times TT or back five kicked it out or straight to there keeper and Williamson carried it back unopposed into our half, Gateshead were playing down both our wings with impunity but also just hitting over the top , at 2-2 when Moke ran forward with the ball beat a few players and looked up, Mondal and Lambert were way behind him not even prepared to support then we knew the game was up . Yes Storey made schoolboy errors against Longstaff and AA mentioned that can cost him his job, but rest of the back five did little to help with Purver and Griffiths going to ground in tackles far too often as were knackered.

Oh how football interviews have changed. Mike Williamson, emotional after the final whistle, said: "We had the will to stick to the process." He'll go far.

But whatever happened to "The boys dun good?" :D

Agree with the above ⬆️ - we just looked completely shagged out in the last 20 minutes or so. Numerous players (but more often than not T.T) were resigned to just knocking the ball endlessly forwards, but there were no players up front big enough or with enough energy left to collect, thus the ball came straight back again - and again and again.

Right at the end of the match, as the ball rolled towards him, the G'head keeper wasn't going to pick it up until made to do so - but the trouble was Lambert could barely get there, he looked dead on his feet.
