Re: Wheater
Will be much fitter for next season so think that’s a little harsh considering he has been out for 2 years.AA will go with Wheater and Lawlor as mentioned in his recent interviews but certainly need a backup CB whether that’s Ellis or Storey.B_Little wrote:I'm afraid to say I don’t think he is the answer to our centre half problems.
He looked way off the pace yesterday. He looked shot after about 10 minutes in.
Armstrong needs to look again.

Re: Wheater
I’m afraid to say judging a 35-year-old who didn’t have a full pre-season because of a serious injury on the basis of one game is quite silly.B_Little wrote:I'm afraid to say I don’t think he is the answer to our centre half problems.

B_Little needs to think again.

B_Little is clearly a troll as no-one with a brain cell would post this.

Re: Wheater
Give him a full pre-season and time to work his fitness back and he’ll be massive for us.
He’s barely played in 2 years and has had major surgery hasn’t he? Looking forward to seeing a fully-fit Wheater come August

Re: Wheater
Wheater is class, sure AA will have him firing for August.
Re: Wheater
This is one reason why fans opinions on players count for very little. They spend too much time comparing them with players they see on the telly too much and forget what level we are at.
If we got rid of every player a fan thinks isn’t good enough we wouldn’t have much of a squad.

Re: Wheater
Looks like he played with a groin injury the entire match to me but players through it to help his team mates. Same with Lawlor. I'd say both those attitudes and the quality they have will make them big assets for us next season.
Re: Wheater
I did say when we first brought him in to train that it was a risk and that he could be another Nicky Hunt. I still think there's a chance he won't regain the level of fitness required, but completely agree he deserves a pre-season before he's judged. He clearly still has the quality and mentality to do well for us - just depends if his body can keep up.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Re: Wheater
Have watched Wheater play in our team & he reminded me of Bobby Moore in his latter years at Fulham. Yes he was not as fast as in his prime but great reader of the game hence often in the right place at right time. He gave confidence to others around him who improve through that experience. Painfully evident that we play better with Wheater in the team than without - 2 up at Gateshead when he went off then lost 4 goals in last quarter!

Yep, this is totally normal and no way absurd. Saying a sixth tier defender reminds you of England’s legendary World Cup-winning captain.jjljks wrote:Have watched Wheater play in our team & he reminded me of Bobby Moore in his latter years at Fulham.

I believe the creator of this thread should change their username to belittle, clearly a troll, Wheater will play a huge part next season both on and off the field

You seem to of not read the next sentence "Yes he was not as fast as in his prime but great reader of the game hence often in the right place at right time. They are reminded of Bobby Moore in the way that he is past his peak but with his experience in football he is able to read the game and position himself to make the right block or tackle or clearance.

Re: Wheater
Any chance we can get back onto the topic of Wheater lads?
It’s tedious reading arguments/disagreements between board users every day.
I think having a fully fit Wheater and Lawlor at the back is a strong pairing to start the season.
Looking forward to seeing more of it next season.

Re: Wheater
Wheater is a great addition - the small gamble I suppose is can he keep fit?

I’d like to hope so, keep him fit and it’ll be an absolute quick airy addition.theoriginalfatcat wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 12:57 pmWheater is a great addition - the small gamble I suppose is can he keep fit?
But as we seen with Nicky Hunt, that’s not always the case.
