Trialist Set To Play
by Scott Thornberry - 10th November 2009
Steve Staunton has arranged for a friendly to be played this evening against local side Whitby Town with the aim of giving a few trialists a run out whilst also giving Whitby Town the chance to see if the fancy any of our players.
With results not going Stauntons way he is desperate to bring even more fresh new faces in, but he said at the weekend that bodies must be shipped out before he can bring more in.
“We know what we have to do, our thoughts from day one haven’t changed. But our hands are tied. We’ve got a lot of bodies in there but we have to get some people out first.
“A lot of players in the squad, or back at the club, we have to get out. We haven’t got an abundance of money so we have to get people out so we can get some fresh faces in.”
“We’re very active in the market but we have to make room in the squad. We’ve got too many bodies at the moment before we can bring anyone in.
“But we know who we want to bring in. We have targets and we know what positions have to change but we have to make room first.”
One player Staunton currently has on trial in former Coventry City defenders Stuart Gidds, who has more recently been playing for non league Hinckley United.
