purcell rejects contract

Tadhg Purcell contacted Simon Davey on Thursday morning to inform him that he believes he can play at a higher level than the Blue Square Premier and he will not be accepting the the contract offered by the club.

Purcell scored 9 goals in his 22 appearences for the club and Davey today told The Northern Echo "He was offered him a good contract but unfortunately he wants to move on.  I had a half-hour with him this morning and he believes he could play at a higher level. He's out of contract and wants to give himself the opportunity of playing in a higher league. You can't blame him for that.

"We'd have loved him to stay but we have to move on and my job is to make sure we bring somebody of equivalent, or better, quality as Tadhg."
