darlo trial danish pair

Darlington last night handed trials to two Danish strikers in their game versus Whitley Bay.

Mark Sundstrup, a 21-year-old attack minded middfielder/striker, formerly of Brondby and has already trialed with League One clubs Hartlepool and Tranmere this month. He impressed at Hartlepool before injury curtailed his stay and on his return he deceided to head for Tranmere.

Kenneth Djoeneri, a 27-year-old striker who has been playing for AC Horsens in Denmark, who has also been on trial at Gateshead, scored Darlington's equaliser last night.

The pair have most recently turned out for Gateshead in a practice game and had been expected to feature in The Heed's games against a Sunderland XI and Newcastle XI later this week along with two un-named Danish defenders believed to be Christian Jorgensen (Brondby RB) and Philip Pedersen (Brondby CB) who have been at Hartlepool on trial.

If neither of them made it into the World Cup squad ahead of Bendtner, they're probably not worth having.

When you look at it we have three senior srtikers in Hatch, Wright and Senior, plus Hatch is on loan. Smith and Main are really still youth team players learning there trade. So if we did, for example bring in the Danish pair, Sundstrup is an attacking midfielder or striker so could be used the same as Senior was against Sunderland as more of a wide man, then Djoeneri would be the third front line striker or impact player. Just an idea.

As long as they dont wear pink boots like Bendtner, they could be the next Hjorth.

Seems odd we'd be looking at more strikers when that's the one area we seem to have reasonable strength and depth.

Then again, if the first one looks good and can play the attacking midfielder role, that would give us another option in the middle of the park. A bit of midfield firepower alongside chandlers grit could work a treat. Even better if he's flexible enough to play a wingers role, and give us an alternate option to Gray.

Hope this helps, better than the echo who thought we played Whitby
