He is tall, he is left footed and he has enjoyed a remarkable 2011 so far.  Dan Burn joined Darlington in 2009 at the age of 16 but it has seen a metioric rise to one of the first names on Mark Coopers team sheet after impressing week in week out.

His performances have now drawn interest from the big boys and Fulham have already been sniffing.  But Everton have now confirmed that they have put a bid in.  Talking to the Liverpool Daily Post David Moyes said “I went to see Newport v Darlington. There is a boy there who has been flagged up to us, so I went to follow it up.

“It will only be a few hundred grand for us, but the money even at that level I think I have to try and get it right and make sure we spend it properly.

“I did it because I thought it was the right thing to do. We have made an offer for him and he would come into the same category as Apostolos Vellios, so before people say we are making a big signing, it is a young player who might has a chance of improvement.”

Mark Cooper recenetly told BBC Tees "If I were a Premier League manager I would sign him straight away, whatever the cost,"

"You'd think he was 25, not 18, the way he handles himself, how comfortable he is on the ball, he knows where to put it under pressure and can head it."
