Raj Singh has thanked the 9,000-plus Darlington fans who cheered Quakers on to victory at Wembley on Saturday.

The Darlo chairman says he was overwhelmed by the vociferous support during Saturday’s dramatic win over Mansfield.

He’s now hoping some of those fans who’ve previously stayed away will be inspired to get behind their club again.

“What an unbelievable day!” said Singh today.

“I think I’ve just about recovered. It was a tremendous occasion for everyone connected to the club, not least our fans, they thoroughly deserve it.

“Lifting the Trophy in front of our supporters was something special. It wasn’t something I planned on doing, I just wanted to get on to the pitch and soak it up.

“But then Chris Senior handed me the Trophy and I couldn’t help myself! The reaction was unbelievable, something that will live with me forever.

“It just cements my long-held belief that the people of Darlington are passionate about their football club, and they do want it.

“We have the fans out there, and Saturday was one momentous day for the club and everyone who was there to witness it.

“But we really do need more of those to get behind us more often. To have 9,000 people supporting us on Saturday was unbelievable, given the club’s recent history.

“Our ambitious remain, and the next objective is promotion next season – work has already started on that, the manager is already talking to players.

“But the more support we get is pivotal, and the sooner the better, as that will give us the ammunition we need to get the top players Mark has identified.

“We’re finally starting to see some stability at the club and Saturday’s Trophy win, as historic and as enjoyable as it was, is hopefully just the beginning of this club’s revival.”

Fans are reminded that the club’s early bird season ticket is available until June 1.
